Hey guys!!!! How are things going?
Well, honestly, from the emails I can see that things are going to be changing there really quickly. New Stake, new Ward, it's going to be interesting.
Actually, are we a new stake? Do we have a new stake president? Or are we just a new ward? ANd where's the new boundaries? Sorry, lots of questions. Answer them really quickly, because Sorella Stevens in the office needs to know so that she can send the new bishop travel information. So, if you can get me Bishop Lindsey's email, that'd be nice.
...let's not talk about my travel plans....I also got my two month departing packet...aka the death packet... don't want to think about that until it's here.
Christmas is done, whow! Well, it was about time. Things seem to be going good.
The wedding seems to be coming along great. Hopefully you can get things all sorted out and everything can be ready for the big day. Hopefully I won't prove to be a pain in the butt....at least in Kendra's.....
Piano time begins again! It's going to be so much fun to be home and hear the beautiful sound of piano music flowing through the air! I think I've found my passion for piano again....still like singing a little more though.
I find it interesting, sorry quick digress, that Dad only wrote me something tiny this week. Does this mean the epistles are gone?
So, Mom, 20 minutes on the eliptical isn't bad. If you do at least 20 minutes of excersize on that everyday, you will see some good results. It's what I've done.
Well, another good week! I love seeing how many miracles come at the end of the mission, it just seems double than normal.
So the miracle this week is that we have a new investigator that just fell into our laps. On Sunday, we were sitting in priesthood, when one of the members comes in and is accompanied by a young man, Giuliano, who just wanted information on English Course, but he ended up staying for the full three hours, loved it, asked lots of questions, We've set up an appointment with him on Wednesday to answer them. He's awesome and is really ready for the gospel.
Then, we met with two investigators, Nabil and Ilenia. Ilenia we shared the Mormon Message about the blind piano player, and talked about our talents. Didn't get much out of her, but she seemed to like it.
Nabil we met with quite a bit this week. We taught him about faith on Wednesday with Jomar, a member who is close to his age. Then yesterday we showed him Finding Faith in Christ, and man was that one of the most powerful lessons I've ever had on my mission! The Spirit was so strong and it touched all of us! Awesome!!! Nabil truly felt the love of Christ, and truly understands the he has a friend who knows his pain!
Personally, I believe that it was a turning point in Nabil's progress. I think we're going to see him truly skyrocket now!
Besides that, we did finding, and a scambio. So, it was a good week. I'm happy with how things are going, and that the Lord is continually blessing us.

Christmas Skype Testimony
I wanted to post the Skype of this, but we had some major problems with Skype from the Internet Hot Spot that Nathan used. I did manage to get about 10 minutes of Nathan's answer to the question what he has learned from his mission so far (he comes home on March 3rd). This was Nathan's reply transcribed from the video and audio from Skype. Nathan paused for a minute at least before answer, really thinking about this . . .
"Uhm, I think the most important thing I have learned is how I have grown from being a natural man to beginning to become a spiritual son of our Heavenly Father. Before I came out I really enjoyed my life, bought what I want, did what I wanted. Even in getting ready for the mission is was a selfish thing in someways, it was my mission. I learned out here that this isn't my mission, it is the Lord's mission for me. It is the people of Italy's mission. Yes, it is still my mission as I think I learn and grow more than anyone, but I have learned that what I want isn't important. I need to find out what the Lord wants and to do it. Anziano Zito (Nathan's companion who goes home this transfer) and I have had discussions reflecting on our missions and I think this is something we have learned. My mission has made me far less selfish, and more focus on others and on the Lord's will. The challenge will be to continue to seek the Lord's will and to follow it after I come home. See , a mission is just the beginning. Uhm, it is the starting point for becoming a spiritual man. Sorella Waddoups doesn't like the term dying missionary, but that is what we are in a way. We are dying to the things of the world and being born again spiritually. I get we don't lose our testimony but uhm, I do think we die as to the things of the world and that is what we need to continue to be focused on both here in the mission field and when we return home. So yeah, that is the most important, or one of the most important things I have learned here in Italy. To let the natural man in me die, and replace it by becoming a spiritual man and that will be the challenge for the rest of my life. That is why the Rome, Italy mission is the best. It is one of the hardest missions in the Church, the center of many traditions and beliefs. So the Lord sends his best missionaries here because of those traditions and challenges and the result is they learn to put off the natural man or woman, to put on the spiritual man OR woman, and become like the Savior is. By doing that we bring ourselves and we are prepared to bring others to Christ. So yeah, that is another thing. Dad asked if I feel I have had a successful mission so far? Yeah, I think I have. Some people measure success in different ways, by position in the mission, by discussions taught, by baptisms, by lots of things. I've been blessed to have taught people and to see some of them get baptized and others later I'm told got baptized. The greatest thing though is watching others start on this process of putting off the natural man and putting on the spiritual person, to come unto Christ. I think I have started that and I know I have seen others start that process and commit to that via baptism. That is what the sacrament and all our covenants are about, about becoming as the Christ is by putting off our selfish, natural ways and serving others. Uhm, I think that answers that question and I hope I am clear."
Nathan then shared his testimony and it was one of the most spiritual things I have listened to in person. What a blessing it is to have a son or daughter serve a mission for our Savior.

Weekly Email December 29th 2014
Hey you guys!
It was a wonderful experience to Skype with you guys last week! So, we just talked, not too much to say this week, but I'll respond to you guys this week.
Mom: Well, it's gonna be one interesting thing with the ward split....if we split. We'll see. I'm not super concerned about it. It's just what happens. Thanks for keeping me up to date however!
Kole's engaged?!?!?!?!? WHAT THE HECK???????? (Kole is a childhood friend of Nathan's). I'm happy for him, but man, that's a shock! All of my friends are growing up....kinda makes me realize how much things have changed....
Eh, ce la vi! It's just kinda weird that's all.
I'll talk about Kendra's wedding soon. I'm glad that the Hobbit was like the book in that regard! 20% plot, 80% battle right? OH man, I can't wait to see it! It's gonna be super fun!
I'm glad that Sam is doing well (Sam is his cousin who is now serving in the Osorno Chile Mission). She shouldn't worry too much about the language, it'll come with time. She'll do fine anyways, she is such an awesome person.
It's great that Hayden is getting excited for his mission. He'll have a great chance to see awesome things. He could even see the dedication of the Paris Temple! Wouldn't that be exciting? Someone will ask but no, I won't be here for the Rome Temple dedication.
Dad: Christmas has finally finished huh? Well, it was bound to die in our house at some point....how sad though!
You got a new snowblower?! Well, that means I don't ever have to shovel the walks again! PRAISE THE LORD I'M FREE AT LAST!!!!!!!!! I'm just kidding. If you want me to do it ancora, I will. But I get to use the snowblower right?
Both: So for Kendra's wedding, I will be perfectly fine to wear a kilt. Honestly, it's kinda hard to read what's what in the email, but for my kilt, I would go with the Wallace tartan modern, or the Wallace tartan hunting colors....it's the 4th one down in the list. I really like that one.
PS Dad: THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!!!!!! That'll be me.... Also, if you wish, we'll give Kendra a good surprise if you want. She'll kill me later but were Eads so we have to tease her!
Oh, and I agree for the place of the wedding. I think it's a beautiful place, and that it will work for the location in May. I be down.

Well, a very Merry Christmas has happened, with some miracles.
Nabil has a baptismal date! We met with him twice this week and yesterday we had a great discussion about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, after which we invited him to baptism and he accepted a date for the 16th of January. He's been wanting to change his life, and honestly, the time has come to do just that. We're really pumped that he has accepted the date. Still got some teaching to do, but we have plenty of time to get it all done.
Other than that, just keeping in contact with our investigators, and trying to get things set up for this week, which we've managed to do. We have plenty of people to see this coming week, and a full time, so we're gonna be seeing a lot of fruits come forth this week from our efforts.
The Lord is truly blessing our efforts! I'm super happy. You guys don't have to worry about me as I wind down. I'm still working as I've always done, and I'm not letting anything influence me oether wise. Believe me. I'm fine and am enduring to the end. The question is will you be ready to endure me when I do come home on March 3rd? .

Weekly Email 12/22/14 (short)
So we got a P-Day planned out, so not a lot of time to write. Luckily its Christmas and Skype so it's okay.
Things are good. See below. The ward is good, has a lot of potential that needs to be tapped into so we'll see. I?m happy to be here though.
So, really quick...aka only Skype info and a little information for how my first full week in Rome went.
Probably gonna Skype Christmas Day, around 5pm my time (9am your time), I may shoot you guys another email when I'm available just to be safe of course. Things are a little complicated right now, but this is the plan. The problem is, everyone wants to Skype, so I may Skype from an internet point.
Okay, if something changes I'll let you know.
Well, what to say about my first full week in Rome? It was fun. Busy, but fun.
Honestly, I'm starting to think that I've been called to serve a service mission now, as that's what we did a lot this week. Since Sorella Reber hurt her leg, and had appointments to go to this week, Anziano Zito and I did a lot of driving around, to make sure that she could make them all. Kinda glad I didn't have a car in any of my cities, it's a bit of a hassle!
So there was that and it was good we could be of service to her. Also with the Specialized Training and every thing, it was kinda different as well. It's been kinda wierd that we haven't really had a normal day of missionary work since we've been together. It's diffferent.
We did get to see Nabil twice this week, and teach him about prayer, and the Ten Commandments with a focus on the Sabbath day. He came to the ward activity on Saturday, but unfortunately didn't make it to church on Sunday. However, he is still reading, still praying, it's just church that's kinda hurting him right now.
Yeah, so this week, because honestly Nabil is the only person we're really seeing right now, we're going to be doing some finding to try and reopen our pool of investigators. We've been calling people the last few days to try and get appointments set up.

Merry, Merry Christmas
For God so Loved the Word . . . that means you, me, all the Anziano and Sorella's, all of us that He gave His Son for us. For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given . . . May we each remember that Jesus Christ, his birth, life, teachings and His Atonement is the reason we celebrate this season. May we remember as Scrooge did, to keep this very Spirit of Christmas with us each day for the next year.
Also, as seen in the picture, Christmas is about family, a father, Joseph, a mother, Mary, and the birth of their first born son, Jesus. I hope we celebrate with our families, those with us and those far away in our hearts this year. May we all come closer to Christ in the coming year; may we receive of His image in our own countenance, may we be more like Him as we strive through His atonement to become more like Him. Then we each will find peace on earth, I promise.

Here I am Lord
This is a hymn for several Protestant Faiths and I believe even for the Catholic Church. The message is beautiful no matter. The words so deeply belong to Anziano Eads and to his fellow missionaries in both the Rome, Italy Mission, and in all the missions. It belongs to each of us who claim discipleship, fulfilling the covenant we have as found in Mosiah 18:
8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called)and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;

Email December 17th 2014
As a reminder we won't post an email next week as the Anziano and Sorella are able to Skype next week with their families. We are very excited to Skype with Nathan! 11 weeks until he comes home.
Okay, at long last, the email that you have all been waiting for. Hopefully ya'll won't kill me later when we Skype.
I guess I should start with that chemical accident that Dad mentioned. That sounds like it was painful. Sorry that you had so much gas buildup. On the bright side, the damage was only superficial, and that saved your life. Just remember to not have so much gas!!!!!!! (private joke).
Okay but in all seriousness:
Mum: I made it over to Rome without incident. Just gotta say that the FrecciaRossa was fast! I was super impressed with the speed of that train! For information, the FrecciaRossa is one of the fastest trains in all of Italy. It goes from Napoli to Rome in an hour and ten minutes. The intercity train I took was about 2 hours and 30 minutes. So, yeah, fast train!
Thanks for the emails, and the prayers. Honestly, if you want to know the truth. I fasted and prayed about it that next Sunday. I won't say the personal revelation I recieved during that period, but I prayed about it all the time up to the train ride, asking the Lord to help me deal with the call, and help me to do what I need to do.
Yeah, miracles still happen, every single day. I honestly don't have any problems now. I've found the bright side of being in Rome. The office is close by, so I can get stuff whenever I need, and reimbursements get done fairly quickly as well. Rome itself is pretty cool.
So, while I can't say I'm super-happy, I'm at least content with the situation, so I can work with the Lord and my comp.
So my new comp is Anziano Zito. He's cool. It's nice to have another Italian companion. I rather enjoyed it with Anziano Curzola, and so I'm happy to be with Anz. Zito. He's, more or less, from a city called Alessandria, which is a small city in between Milan and Torino, about an hour from both. He dies this transfer, so I don't get out of killing someone.
I honestly don't know who that is (Nathan's mom asked if he had met a Anziano Peter Mcullum, who is a ward member's nephew). Maybe he's in a different zone. I don't know anymore. PW got rid of the trunk sheet, the list of where all the missionaries are, so I don't know, or ever met him. Probably won't meet him either, I'm too old in the mission now.
Sounds like both of you guys have had one heck of a busy week! Mom, you got head underwear? What the heck?!!?!?!?! That's wierd. Tell Dad that I'm praying that all goes well with him! I love him, and got his back!
Well, not much to say this week. Spent the first half in it in Napoli saying goodbye to people and stuff. It was kinda hard to say good bye to our investigators, especially when they all started crying. That, at the very least, means you did a good job with something, making a lasting friendship with them.
Then after I got to Rome, it was service opportunities! Been doing a lot of service in Rome 6 as of late. We helped people move around twice, helped out in the office, man it was busy. It was nice, honestly. I enjoyedf helping out people who really needed it and the spirit was pretty strong throught out the day.
We did teach one lesson to our investigator, Nabil, about prayer and how he can know the truth through prayer. Seems like he really wants to change his life, and we're inviting him to do just that with the invites we're leaving. I think there's a good chance for progress there.
Okay, yup, that's been our week. I'm excited for what's coming our way this week.

Here are some pictures taken from the Rome/Napoli Specialized Training. Yes, they are doing the nativity again and based on the pictures, I believe Nathan is a narrator. Last year he was the "star" and this year he got covered up by the star! Oh the fickle nature of "stars."
Okay, at long last, the email that you have all been waiting for. Hopefully ya'll won't kill me later when we Skype.
I guess I should start with that chemical accident that Dad mentioned. That sounds like it was painful. Sorry that you had so much gas buildup. On the bright side, the damage was only superficial, and that saved your life. Just remember to not have so much gas!!!!!!! (private joke).
Okay but in all seriousness:
Mum: I made it over to Rome without incident. Just gotta say that the FrecciaRossa was fast! I was super impressed with the speed of that train! For information, the FrecciaRossa is one of the fastest trains in all of Italy. It goes from Napoli to Rome in an hour and ten minutes. The intercity train I took was about 2 hours and 30 minutes. So, yeah, fast train!
Thanks for the emails, and the prayers. Honestly, if you want to know the truth. I fasted and prayed about it that next Sunday. I won't say the personal revelation I recieved during that period, but I prayed about it all the time up to the train ride, asking the Lord to help me deal with the call, and help me to do what I need to do.
Yeah, miracles still happen, every single day. I honestly don't have any problems now. I've found the bright side of being in Rome. The office is close by, so I can get stuff whenever I need, and reimbursements get done fairly quickly as well. Rome itself is pretty cool.
So, while I can't say I'm super-happy, I'm at least content with the situation, so I can work with the Lord and my comp.
So my new comp is Anziano Zito. He's cool. It's nice to have another Italian companion. I rather enjoyed it with Anziano Curzola, and so I'm happy to be with Anz. Zito. He's, more or less, from a city called Alessandria, which is a small city in between Milan and Torino, about an hour from both. He dies this transfer, so I don't get out of killing someone.
I honestly don't know who that is (Nathan's mom asked if he had met a Anziano Peter Mcullum, who is a ward member's nephew). Maybe he's in a different zone. I don't know anymore. PW got rid of the trunk sheet, the list of where all the missionaries are, so I don't know, or ever met him. Probably won't meet him either, I'm too old in the mission now.
Sounds like both of you guys have had one heck of a busy week! Mom, you got head underwear? What the heck?!!?!?!?! That's wierd. Tell Dad that I'm praying that all goes well with him! I love him, and got his back!
Well, not much to say this week. Spent the first half in it in Napoli saying goodbye to people and stuff. It was kinda hard to say good bye to our investigators, especially when they all started crying. That, at the very least, means you did a good job with something, making a lasting friendship with them.
Then after I got to Rome, it was service opportunities! Been doing a lot of service in Rome 6 as of late. We helped people move around twice, helped out in the office, man it was busy. It was nice, honestly. I enjoyedf helping out people who really needed it and the spirit was pretty strong throught out the day.
We did teach one lesson to our investigator, Nabil, about prayer and how he can know the truth through prayer. Seems like he really wants to change his life, and we're inviting him to do just that with the invites we're leaving. I think there's a good chance for progress there.
Okay, yup, that's been our week. I'm excited for what's coming our way this week.
