I'm staying in Ragusa another transfer, and with Anziano Calchera. I have not bought my shirts or a new belt (I don't need a new belt!), but I'm probably going to buy myself my Christmas present soon. I lost my USB for a bit one day, and I realized just how much that little thing has on it. I'm going to buy a hard drive to back it all up.
Sorry that you've all been sick this week with something different. Life just hits us with a left sometimes and then who knows what happens! Still, I'm glad that you are all (hopefully) feeling better, and that Gma is as well. I'll probably finish that letter today and get it sent off sometime soon.
Let's see, Zone Conf. was about receiving personal revelation, some things about commitment, and that's really all I can remember. There was one point during the commitment addrestramento (training) where the Assistants called the three biggest kids up to the front. Obviously I was one of them.
Well, we had this other Anziano whose a bit skinny, and they told him to catch us all in a trust fall. Well, he caught the one in the middle, and one assistant caught the other. As for me, I fell and hit my head on the ground, proving once again, I am hard-headed as I didn't even feel it.
The missionaries are always nice and friendly, and cool. I really don't have a preference on who I serve with, just as long as we get along that's all I care about.
Well, we have had a really good week this time around. The Lord answers prayers.
On Monday we had two wonderful lessons with a current investigating couple about the Law of Castità , and it was okay. They looked down a lot of the time, but they do that normally, but I want to see what happens. Also, they did say that their marriage was coming along, but it's going to take some time.
The other lesson was with a potential simpat that became a new investigator this week. She is the girlfriend of one of our members and we've been trying to meet with her for a while. It was fantastic! Anziano Calchera was talking about prophets and she straight up asked: "But where is this guy now? Where is the prophet today?" I love it when people have been prepared by the Lord to hear the message.
We also taught our new converts. With Issac we've been helping him work on his lesson for the Gospel Principles class, which he teaches. He does a good job, he just wants to ask us some questions for clarity. We help him prepare and share a brief spiritual thought.
With Valentina we've been teaching her with her home teachers and this week we taught the commandments. She accepted them without a problem.
We had a scambio this week with Gela, and we turned our attention to meno-attivo work. That went really well. We met with a few of them, and one of them actually came to church, which was rather nice, and it was good that we were able to learn a little bit more about the ward list, and be able to update it.
Then we taught our simpat Issac. He's been having troubles with his housing arrangement, and we felt inspired to talk about the story of Alma and his people in Mosiah 24, I think. We shared that the burdens can be hard, but with faith and prayers, God will deliver us from our burdens. We also left him 3 Nephi chapter 1 to read to share another experience about faith and prayer.
We also went out to Modica, with the Clarks. They had a few potentials they wanted us to meet, and so we went, and we met with Giovanni, and he's one interesting person. He lost his seventeen year old son, and has felt abandoned by God. When he met the Clarks however, he began to feel like God was coming back into his life. We're really going to try to head out there every other week next transfer to teach him.
And that's been our work. I have to say that things have been going really well, actually. We're going to be holding our fireside on missionary work this Sunday, which should help the members and us continue to grow in our working together, and it will help to "hasten the work." I can't wait to see what's going to happen next transfer.
Well, I love you guys, stay cool!
NaNa, Nathan, Nate, Anziano Eads, Easy Eads, whatever else I'm called.
I testify that Jesus is the Christ and our Savior. That He bore upon himself each of our sins, each of our sorrows, our disappointments, our griefs, our emotional, physical and spiritual pains. How He did this I don't know, I just know that He did it. He knows us, individually and loves us individually, no one more than another. He is there to comfort us when we are faint. I am asking my Dad to post this image he shared and a video with the song I Know That My Redeemer Lives. I remember each day that I serve, I grow to love others because He first loved me, and I want others to know of His love. In His love and strength we can do anything. I love serving.
The movie clip below is the resurrected Savior appearing first to Mary Madeleine. With no music. This is my mom's favorite story of the Savior.
The hymn, I Know That My Redeemer lives is my Dad's favorite hymn.
I love this next picture that my Dad shared with me.
"And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine be done.
And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."
Luke 22: 41-44
"Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit -- and would that I might not drink the bitter cup and shrink--
Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men."
D&C 19:18-19
Words to the Hymn:
1. I know that my Redeemer lives.
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead.
He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives to bless me with his love.
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed.
He lives to bless in time of need.
2. He lives to grant me rich supply.
He lives to guide me with his eye.
He lives to comfort me when faint.
He lives to hear my soul's complaint.
He lives to silence all my fears.
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives all blessings to impart.
3. He lives, my kind, wise heav'nly Friend.
He lives and loves me to the end.
He lives, and while he lives, I'll sing.
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.
He lives and grants me daily breath.
He lives, and I shall conquer death.
He lives my mansion to prepare.
He lives to bring me safely there.
4. He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"
He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"
